Resid: sponsorship / Re3
Everyone keeps saying CHOCAArts could get sponsored - either / both as:
1: an art coordinators group organizing art activities - such as drawing / painting activities in schools, homes for senior citizens etc here in caldas da rainha / the silver coast
and/or
2: CHOCAArts apartment as an artists residency + organize art activities for the public in the apartment.
Have you got any suggestions where CHOCAArts could get funding please??

Would it be worth chocaarts linking up with Azquira?

Hello
CHOCAArts is a group of art coordinators who coordinate art activities for the general public. CHOCAArts is requesting funding to be able to coordinate these art activities both in CHOCAArts apartment in Caldas da Rainha and in various entities in Caldas da Rainha / the Silver Coast, Portugal.
Prices: Donations only, min. 0€, max. 5€. Sometimes an entity - such as a private arts institute pays the coordinators. However CHOCAArts only accepts payment if the participants themselves either go free or pay donations only. This allows everyone to be included.
Level: CHOCAArts doesn't have levels, it only aims to encourage people to do art regardless of experience or level. There is no tuition -the objective is simply to do art.
Arts activities = drawing: urban sketching, life drawing, doodling, painting: acrylic, watercolour, creative writing, music: jams + singalongs. Other art is welcome if there is the interest.
Main Room: CHOCAArts coordinate arts activities in the main room such as life drawing sessions, drawing, doodling sessions, sing alongs, art-related film nights, + monthly communal meals. When there are no activities the main room's used as an arts studio.
1 Bedroom: daytime = admin / office space for CHOCAArts, night time = bedroom for main organiser- who is also an artist.
Monthly budget:
Income per month: 1000€
600€ - rent per artist - food and bills are included, 300€ x 2 artists,
400€ - Studio space from 9am - 9pm. 50€ per artist x 8 = 400€. 8 artists may sound a lot but because of timetables there are only ever 3 or 4 artists at any one time.
Outgoings per month: 200€
100€: model for weekly life drawing sessions.
100€: Art materials - various types of paper, paints: watercolour + acrylic paints, paintbrushes, pens etc used both in CHOCAArts Apartment + in schools around Caldas / the silver coast.
Why is Funding Needed: The money would be used to subsidise a living wage for the art coordinators. Many entities - including state run libraries, schools, community centres and homes for senior citizens will accept activities but many do not have sufficient fundings to pay the coordinators. With sponsorship to subsidise the wages it would then be possible to coordinate these art activities for donations only or even free in Caldas / the Silver coast.
Would it be possible to get this project financed please? Do you have any suggestions please?

4/4: History of CHOCAArts
2000: a group of arts coordinators clubbed together to network about art coordinating work in / around Lisbon.
Over the years we got more organised and CHOCA Arts formed a team of 5 / 6 people who'd come and go. We organised art activates - sometimes in a casual ad hoc fashion, sometimes quite organised depending who is in the team!
2012: got an art apartment and ran art activities in-house + in / around Lisbon.
2013 - 2016: the chocaarts group closed the apartment. I myself travelled western Europe + south east Asia coordinating arts projects mainly in schools, art centres etc in exchange for food and accommodation.
2017 - 2022: I came back to Portugal and organised a 2nd CHOCA Arts Apartment with the same concept of organising art activities in-house + in / around Lisbon.
2022 - current day: Over lockdown the residents / art coordinators went their seperate ways. Meanwhile I got an inheritance so bought my own 4 room apartment in Caldas da Rainha: 80 km north of Lisbon. I started the same CHOCA Arts concept as in Lisbon. However the concept is adapted to have people join the team on a short term.
I feel the best way forward for CHOCA Arts is to arrange funding for the project, organise a team of 4 / 5 artists / art coordinators on a short term basis - 1 week to 2 months max. We could coordinate art workshops both in-house + in / around Caldas.
